Old Vine Field
In a nutshell
Sometimes when you taste a blend there is a particular barrel simply does not fit with the others. It’s delicious but it is too hard– unready. We collect these barrels at the back of the cellar to give them more time– 1-2 Winters more time, to calm down as it were and express themselves in better harmony. When they are ready, we include them in this solera. (Solera is when you blend vintages of the same wine.)
Think of a blend of many old-vine parcels (much more expensive than this bottle) blended together 18 months – two years later to make a round satisfying red blend.
– One, solera, every 2-3 years
– (multiple vintage Solera 2019-2022)
House note
“Deep ruby. Intense, spice-accented aromas of red- and blackcurrant, pipe tobacco and herbs. Notable evolution and polished character, just enough structure to lend length and a smoky gentle soft finish. Ready to drink.”
